Very delightful! You won't want them to stop!
Elena Fainshtein started playing the button accordion (bayan) at age 5 and attended a school for gifted children in Minsk, Belarus. Her second instrument of choice was piano. At age 15, she was accepted to Music College in Minsk and graduated with highest honors, then attending Belarusian State Academy of Music and graduating in 1987. She began playing in an accordion duo with her classmate, Gregory Fainshtein at age 17. They married six years later.
Since their school days, Gregory and Elena have performed concerts all over the world, including Belarus, Russia, Georgia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany, Israel, and the United States. They have performed at the National Accordion Association conventions, and in 2013 and 2015, performed together at the Accordionists and
Teacher Guild International Festival. In 2014, they performed at the Las Vegas International Festival (LVAC). In 2019, Elena was able to take one of her top accordion students, Elijah Clements to LVAC, where Elijah received a scholarship and they performed a half-hour solo and duet concert. Two of her accordion students have been awarded the Texas Folklife Big Squeeze Champion in the Polka Division: Peter Gresser in 2018 and Elijah Clements in 2019.
Elena Fainshtein has been teaching piano and accordion successfully for over 30 years, giving lessons in three different languages.
